There are so many different types of families but everyone shows such respect towards one another. My daughter goes to the learning center two days a week. The classes are fantastic and teachers are supportive. My ES is helpful, friendly and has become a friend. It has become a wonderful network of moms that can share experiences and curriculum ideas. I think different charter have different personalities so it is best to check out the one that fits yours.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4729065816300918701.post-3701894937718408842012-07-07T21:44:21.848-07:002012-07-07T21:44:21.848-07:00Hi! It's my husband's & my compromise. I wanted to homeschool, he wanted them in public school. Now we're both on the same page....and this is working for us. We meet the state requirements (even though I find them somewhat annoying), but we really do what we want with the curriculum & it works out for us! Feel free to visit my blog & say hi! Love to meet other homeschoolers!Boy Crazyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11804655113500789222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4729065816300918701.post-22563046448755579962012-06-19T13:23:06.368-07:002012-06-19T13:23:06.368-07:00Hi Emily! I have only ...Yes, thank you for writing this post. I have only ever homeschooled through a charter school and I do call it homeschooling and consider my children "homeschooled". If the learning is happening at home and I am doing the teaching, that is homeschooled regardless of who is footing the bill. I think that a lot of people are seriously misinformed when it comes to home based learning charter schools, and it's a shame really. Fortunately in our area of California we have a minimum of 5 homebased learning charters, and I have belonged to 3 of them. That's the beauty of it-if a school no longer works for us, we move on. Homeschooling through a charter has also made it possible for my child to play high school sports and be recruited for a college team. In CA this would not have been possible (or nearly impossible) were it not for the fact we homeschool through a particular charter. Plus, not to mention the fact that even though we "jump through a few hoops" now, I didn't have to jump through any when it came for my child to transition to college. I also don't feel like I had to sacrifice teaching how or what I wanted and was able to fully customize her high school experience. Sorry to ramble...:-) You asked for other experiences and I just wanted to share ours.Stephaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13730593355994349351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4729065816300918701.post-29931393505739927532012-05-23T15:38:38.830-07:002012-05-23T15:38:38.830-07:00thank you for this informative post!! we looked in...thank you for this informative post!! we looked into a charter school for my son...who was reading and comprehending books before age 4...the school was overall too liberal for us..but the kids seemed very happy there...<br />we hold that parents are the primary educators of their children so whatever they get in school is a bonus when we don't have to decipher it.momto8https://www.blogger.com/profile/13964950285763339907noreply@blogger.com
