I recently stumbled upon booksshouldbefree.com. What a find! This site has hundreds of free audiobooks. The stories can be streamed on your computer or downloaded onto your IPod or any other MP3 file. Many books also include links to both sites with the text of these books, so one can follow along, and sites with information about the books and authors. Another neat feature are the many books in languages other than English. Studying French, the fur trade, and Jules Verne? How about listening to The Fur Country in French? No copyright laws are violated as these books are all in the public domain.
Here are just a few of the books we’ve enjoyed from booksshouldbefree.com
And I’m looking forward to hearing the Bible read in French
(perhaps, it will help me remember all that French I shoved into my head back in college)
as well as
Enjoy and Happy Listening!

How lovely! We've used librivox.com, which is a similar service.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with Learning Laboratory at Mama Smiles =)
What a fun resource! I agree--books should be free! Thank you so much for sharing at Teach Me Tuesday--I hope we see you again next week!
ReplyDeleteI've had that site bookmarked for a week but hadn't gotten around to showing it to the kids! Have you checked out myaudioschool.com? They have a ton of audio books categorized by school subject (again, all copyright expired). Thanks again for linking up with me at housefullofbookworms.com! I plan to do a blog hop every Friday, so come on back! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up!!
